"ABAD" beneficiary: Shamil Unchiyev | Region: Zagatala | Blacksmithing
Baku resident Shamil Unchiyev has been engaged in the art of blacksmithing for 26 years. According to him, the tradition of blacksmithing and latticework has been preserved and passed down through generations in his family.
“My grandfather was a jeweler who crafted various weapons and ornamental items from silver. After him, my uncle continued the craft, and I learned it from him,” the artisan explains.
Currently, Unchiyev produces handmade souvenir weapons, decorative items, and chests in a small workshop set up in his home. His works incorporate lattice-style design and artistic forging techniques. He emphasizes the importance of approaching each stage of the process with great attention to detail.
Unchiyev learned about the public legal entity “ABAD” through the internet and contacted the organization via its official website.
Expressing his desire to collaborate with ABAD, the craftsman notes that he seeks support in organizing the sale of his handmade products:
“I want ABAD to support me in marketing and selling my creations so that I can focus on my craft without having to search for customers or rely solely on commissions. Although I once worked in a different field, I ultimately returned to this family tradition that has been preserved for generations. I believe that with ABAD’s support, the quality of my work will improve and reach a new level.”
It should be noted that Shamil Unchiyev’s handcrafted items, including souvenir daggers and ornamental pieces, are currently showcased at ABAD’s artisan centers.
