The history of rosaries dates back to the 2nd
century BC. At that time, most of the religious leaders were illiterate and
innumerate including simple counting. They were given leather fabric or threads
that could be knotted to read a certain number of prayers. Various other
natural materials that can be sorted for this purpose were also used:
seashells, seeds, fruit pits, and so on. At present, rosaries are made of
beads, as well as glass, stones, wood, and are in the interest of many people.
Fakhriyya Ibrahimova is skilled in making rosaries.
She has been engaged in the preparation of rosaries for more than 8 years:
"I have been inclined to drawing and generally
to art since my childhood. I started with small things: making decorative items
from beads, decorating chests, painting on glass bottles, and preparing various
accessories from plant gums. Then I learned the subtilties and secrets of the
sculpturing. But preparing rosaries is my favourite. I prepare my rosaries from
natural materials. I think that my crafts have their energy and it calms and
increases strength people."
According to Fakhriyya, after joining the ABAD,
requests on her page and sales respectively increased:
"My
artwork is mostly bought by foreign visitors, and the local population make a
majority of people who buy my crafts through the website. So, the number of
buyers increases day after day. "
