"ABAD" beneficiary: Narmina Rustamova | Region: Baku | Toys

Residing in Baku, Narmina Rustamova is a doll-designer. Her super delicately made soft toys appeal the interest of people of all ages.

According to Narmina, she made her first toy after the birth of her daughter. "My mom was a doctor; besides, she was skilled at knitting and sewing.

Not unexpectedly, she taught me to work with my hands as I was growing up. However, I was not practising these skills much. When I become a mother, it turned out to be a hassle to find toys made of natural materials and no need to mention that obtaining them from abroad was costly. Thus, I made my first toy. As my friends loved them and started to order some for their kids, my works and I came to light around,” she remarks.

Recalling her path to ABAD, she says:

"Once my spouse enters an ABAD ethno-boutique in the Duty-Free Zone of the Heydar Aliyev International Airport and coming home, he said there is a shop which sells toys similar to mines. So, I contacted ABAD. I am pleased with my sales. Organization of continuous sales and, in the result, steady monthly income has been a great support to my family and me.”
