"ABAD" beneficiary: Yusif Guliyev | Region: Sumgayit | Honey

Having been engaged in the beekeeping, Yusif Guliyev is originally from Gazian village of Gubadli district. However, after the occupation of the Gubadli district by the Armenian armed forces, Guliyev's family settled in Sumgayit and started nomadic beekeeping:

“Our family consists of six people and we lend a helping hand to each other during the whole process; from the managerial work to the processing and the marketing of the final product. We produce all of the beekeeping products, such as bee colonies, queen bees, honey, pollen, beeswax, propolis, royal jelly, homogenate (Thom), and wax.

According to the head of the family, they were amateur beekeepers functioning in the form of a subsidiary farm. But later they decided to turn it into a family business and expand it:

“We were retail selling our products to barely friends and relatives for their own use. However, we were unable to sell on a large scale which in turn lead us to limited production. The other day I came across information about ABAD and its activities. Being informed about ABAD's contribution to branding and marketing of local products, I decided to join the ABAD family and after joining ABAD, the range and scale of our products have increased significantly" -he remarks.

According to Guliyev, they are currently increasing the number of bee families. The measures are taken for the improvement of the family business. The family members also learn the international experience to offer better products to the market.
