Gulnara Haciyeva was born in 1981 in Hakari village, Zangilan district. For nearly 20 years, she has been engaged in handicrafts. Gulnara explains the main source of her interest in this field as follows: “In our family, my grandmothers were involved in weaving, and I learned the secrets of this craft from my grandmother. However, my passion and creative abilities were more drawn to painting. I believe my love for art stems from my family’s tradition.”

For this reason, in 1999, she enrolled in the Carpet Designer-Artist Faculty at Baku Culture and Education College. After completing her education, Gulnara Haciyeva began working as a teacher at the Zangilan District Children and Youth Development Center. At the same time, she started creating carpet patterns and painting national ornaments and cultural motifs on various items.

Seeing people’s interest in her handicrafts, she decided to further develop this field. To this end, Gulnara began collaborating with experienced artisans, elevating her creativity to a more professional level. In 2018, she joined “ABAD” and started benefiting from the services it offered. With ABAD’s support, she gained opportunities to expand her sales, which significantly advanced the systematic and professional development of her creative work.

Her future plan is to revive the carpet-weaving tradition in her native Zangilan and bring new life to this ancient art.

It is worth noting that Gulnara Haciyeva’s eye-catching handicrafts can be purchased at ABAD ethno-boutiques.
