"ABAD" beneficiary: Taleh Aghayev | Region: Masally | Coppersmithing and embossing

Taleh Aghayev, a
resident of Boradigah settlement in the Masalli district, is a practitioner of
coppersmithing and tin-coating, two traditional crafts deeply rooted in
Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage. To develop this art form in Masalli and expand
his family business, Mr. Aghayev turned to the ABAD initiative, where he
currently benefits from support in product design and sales organization.
Having grown up in a
family of coppersmiths, Mr. Aghayev reflects:
“Coppersmithing was
once among the most prominent crafts. Copper-made household items and
decorative pieces held a significant place in everyday life. However,
modernization and the emergence of alternative materials have led to a decline
in interest toward this traditional art. Thanks to ABAD’s support, I am now
able to create handcrafted items that meet contemporary tastes and market
demands. I am confident in my ability to reclaim a meaningful place in today’s
marketplace.”
Today, Taleh
Aghayev’s intricate copper creations are showcased and sold at ABAD’s official
artisan centers, where they continue to attract appreciation for their
craftsmanship and cultural significance.
