"ABAD" beneficiary: Gulare Mahmudova | Region: Ismayilly | Carpet weaving
Gulare Mahmudova, a
resident of Lahij settlement in the Ismayilli district, has been engaged in
carpet weaving for many years. From a young age, Gulare developed a passion for
this craft, learning its intricacies from her mother.
With over 30 years
of experience as a professional carpet weaver, Gulare primarily focuses on
creating pile carpets.
In addition to
carpet weaving, she also produces traditional headwear (arakhchins) and
shuttle-woven textiles in various styles.
Gulare notes that
her products are mainly sold on a commission basis, with orders coming not only
from within Azerbaijan but also from abroad.
To expand the market
for her handmade products and increase income from her family business, Gulare
Mahmudova joined the “ABAD” project.
Her products are now
available for sale at “ABAD” artisanal centers.
