"ABAD" beneficiary: Elkhan Karimov | Region: Sheki | Painting

Elkhan Karimov, a
resident of Sheki, Azerbaijan, has dedicated over six years to the mastery of
woodcarving. His profound interest in traditional craftsmanship motivated him
to pursue higher education in the field of decorative and applied folk arts.
Initially
experimenting with stone engravings, Mr. Karimov subsequently focused his
expertise on the intricate art of woodcarving.
Operating from his
workshop in Sheki, he creates an array of meticulously crafted wooden
souvenirs.
Historically, his
market was limited to tourists visiting Sheki and local residents. Seeking to
expand his family enterprise and enhance its profitability, Mr. Karimov engaged
with the “ABAD” initiative.
Through “ABAD,” he
received specialized guidance in developing designs tailored to captivate
tourist interest.
Presently, Mr.
Karimov’s artisanal creations are prominently displayed at “ABAD” craftsmanship
centers.
