"ABAD" beneficiary: Yolbeyi Maharramov | Region: Masally | Honey
Yolbeyi Maharramov
Beekeeping is one of the agricultural areas supported within the framework of “ABAD” project. Like anywhere in the country beekeeping is successfully developing in the southern region as well and this field is

one of the priorities of “ABAD”. Residing in Sarchuvar village of Masally region, Yolbeyi Maharramov is one of the beekeepers addresses to “ABAD” concept, simplified support to family businesses.  He learned beekeeping as a

child while working at his uncle’s large bee farm. It was his uncle that taught Yolbeyi the basics of beekeeping such as looking after a bee colony, curative effects of bees, etc. However, he says that his favorite part was honey

extraction from honeycombs and filtering. Eventually, he decided to become a beekeeper himself, and his uncle supported him. Y.Maharramov embarked on this long and remarkable, but equally arduous and challenging road with

two honey-bee families. As the years passed, he perfected his beekeeping skills and raised the number of bee families to 150. Customers from remote corners of former Soviet republics visit Masally to buy his linden, acacia and

floral honey. Y.Maharramov currently resides in Sarchuvar village of Masally. While talking about his village, he characterizes it as “a paradise wrapped in flower fragrance”. “Come to our village in the summertime. At the

entrance to the village you will smell stupefying flower scent”, - he remarks.  His bee colonies produce honey out of the nectar collected from blossoms around the village. They can fly beyond Sarchuvar village and reach

seasonally Sabirabad, Astara and other regions as well. That is why he produces high-quality honey. He extracts around one ton of honey annually from 60 bee colonies. This honey has relevant compliance and hygiene certificates.

The sale of the honey under the “ABAD” brand allowed Y.Maharramov to overcome the biggest impediment that any entrepreneur can encounter. Now he is more optimistic about his family business. Hence, he aims to increase the

number of bee colonies in the future and invites everyone to try the scrumptious “Chichekli” honey.
