Teresa Hamlin
The ABAD beneficiary Teresa Hamlin is an American. Teresa Hamlin, who has lived and worked in Azerbaijan for about 12 years, has launched a company named "Azerbaijani Socks" based in Gusar.

"I'm a teacher by profession. I worked in Shahdag, Gusar. While I was working there, I started a family business. When my father and mother had come to visit me Gusar, my mother was given a gift of a pair of socks that were made by a local weaver. She was wearing them with love, after a while, they became torn, and my mother sewed her socks back and dressed. She called me from Amerca and asked for the same type of socks. I want to mention that, many of our friends in America also like these stuff. So I decided to build a company to expand the production of these socks. Now I work with about 20 weavers."

Teresa Hamlin says that under her leadership the weaver women of Gusar prepare local Lezgi socks, tube socks, decorative socks, woven souvenirs, gloves, and dolls.

On her career change from teaching to the business, she commented:

"I think this field has chosen me itself. For several years, I had taught English and I was exhausted. My interest in this field has been great and in conclusion, I built my business. "

Teresa says before, she sold her products only abroad:

"I want to expand my sales market so my weavers can get more profit. Our products also participated and sold at the exhibition dedicated to the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in France. I think ABAD will enable us to increase our sales."

Teresa Hamlin also shared her impressions of the ABAD handicrafts and sales centers:

"I have been to your centers and you give a great opportunity to artisans. Moreover, in many cases, it was difficult to find a locally made authentic product to gift my friends when I visit them abroad. "ABAD" is an excellent project and I like it very much. "
