Weaving is one of the ancient crafts and professions of the Azerbaijani people. Traditionally practiced primarily by women, this art form continues to be developed and preserved by its modern-day practitioners.
One such artisan recognized in this field is Chinara Mammadova, who collaborates with the ABAD initiative.
Having shown a deep interest in craftsmanship from a young age, Ms. Chinara initially began her creative journey with artistic embroidery.
After achieving notable success in that field, she has since expanded her work to include the production of various souvenirs and national-style gifts.
Particular emphasis is placed on the incorporation of traditional Azerbaijani patterns and motifs in her handmade items.
Chinara Mammadova notes that the weaving traditions in her family have deep historical roots, and she is determined to achieve even greater success in her chosen craft.
Today, her handmade products—such as bags, baskets, and jewelry boxes—are available for sale at ABAD artisan centers.
