Residing in the Galadarasi village of Shamakhi district, Jeihun Nuriyev grew up in a family of beekeepers with the slogan of "Honey should not be brought to market".

J.Nuriyev, who has been engaged in this field for more than 30 years, acquired knowledge about the benefits of honey from his forefathers, grandfathers, uncles and other relatives and learned about special recipes for treatment of many ailments:

"The place we live in has such a rich nature that honey of these lands just cannot be mediocre. My honey is very dark. This, in turn, indicates the high quality of the honey."
According to Jeihun, honey made in Galadarasi is distinctive because this village is the land of the forests, steep cliffs, rivers, wells, and lawns: "The grass of the rocks, the mountains and the forests are all different. Look, the nectar blend of these different plants, trees, and flowers gives our honey a unique flavor. "

Within the framework of the joint project of ABAD, Global Environmental Facility and the United Nations Development Programme titled "Assisting local high mountain communities with alternative sources of income", Jeihun Nuriyev became one of the ABAD’s beneficiaries. Jeihun, who launched his activity with 10-12 bee families, now owns 60-70 bee families and the honey brand produced by him is given the name of "Kəhrəba”:

"Though, my grandfather would always say “Honey should not be brought to market, the buyer should find it himself”, I have a completely different opinion on this. If you ask me, orders for my honey range from Istanbul to Abu Dhabi. Thanks to ABAD, the quality of my honey has been tested, and its quality has been proven at a state level with relevant attested documentation.

Now, I am known as a professional beekeeper in our republic. My honey is in the color of the amber stone, so we name our brand “Kəhrəba” which literally means “amber” in Azeri. My honey has been put up for sale in the city's largest supermarkets chain, which is in turn, a great pride for me. "Kəhraba" is available at ABAD sales centers and Bravo markets chain.”
