"ABAD" beneficiary: Samadagha Hamidov | Region: Masally | Honey

Samadagha Hamidov, a
resident of Tekle village in the Masalli district of Azerbaijan, has been
engaged in traditional apiculture for over four decades. Initially beginning
with 10 bee colonies, Mr. Hamidov has expanded his practice to over 80
colonies, reflecting sustained growth and dedication to this ancestral craft.
Currently, his
apiaries are located both on his private household premises and in the nearby
village of Mammadkhanli. His operations yield an average annual output of
approximately one ton of natural honey. Due to the quality and purity of his
products, Mr. Hamidov has earned a strong reputation as a reliable apiculturist
across the Masalli region and surrounding areas.
Mr. Hamidov
emphasizes the importance of intergenerational knowledge transfer in sustaining
beekeeping traditions:
“I continuously
teach this craft to my children. Alongside their respective professions, they
should preserve apiculture as a familial heritage.”
In pursuit of broader
market access, particularly in the capital city of Baku, Mr. Hamidov approached
the ABAD public support program. In collaboration with ABAD, a regional honey
brand named “Təklə” was established, including full branding and packaging
design tailored for market distribution.
Today, honey
products produced under the Təklə brand are presented and sold through ABAD’s
network of artisan and exhibition centers, contributing both to the economic
empowerment of the Hamidov family and the preservation of traditional
Azerbaijani apiculture.
