Gulnara Bakirova

Residing in the Gabala region, Gulnara Bakirova, is a member of the ABAD family. Gulnara's parents are artists. Her father, Firudin Bakirov, prepares compositions from small river stones, and her mother, Fatma khanum is a carpet weaver. Gulnara knits various soft toys, garments and accessories just as her mother:

"When I was 5 years old I took a knitting needle to my hand for the first time and since that I did not give up it. When I was a child, my mother did not allow me to weave in order not to get my eyes impaired, though I was weaving a sneak peek and learning by looking at my mother's hand movements."

Gulnara Khanum studied design to become a specialist in this profession. Today she makes sketches for weaving. During our conversation, she mentioned the advantages of joining the ABAD:

"My mother is physically challenged. This is why we joined the ABAD. We were weaving compositions, but we could not sell it before. ABAD gave us the chance to sell our crafts on a stable basis."

Speaking of the future plans, the artisan also says that her dream is to own a private atelier workshop: "Imagine that there is a workshop in one side, woven apparels, wedding gowns and accessories on the other side."

This should be noted that the handicrafts of Gulnara Bakirova are available at all the "ABAD" ethno-boutiques.
