"ABAD" beneficiary: Nubar Shahbazova | Region: Baku | Decorative-applied art
Nubar Shahbazova, a young Baku resident and ABAD-supported artisan, has been passionate about decorative-applied folk craftsmanship since the age of nine. Though her family had no artisans, Nubar always aspired to be a painter, creating her first piece at nine using watercolor on paper. Determined to pursue her dream, she studied to become a ceramicist-painter.
During her student years, Nubar delved deeply into the techniques and nuances of her craft, participating in various exhibitions with her handcrafted works. After graduating, she continued to refine her skills across multiple disciplines, excelling in hot batik and ceramic painting, producing diverse and successful art pieces.
One of Nubar’s favorite areas is crafting unique dolls, which she designs entirely herself, from their appearance and facial features to their clothing. These dolls, made using materials like metal frameworks, clay, paper, cardboard, fabric, and paint, have garnered significant interest from both locals and foreign tourists.
To organize the sale of her delicate creations, Nubar joined ABAD. Her handcrafted works are now exhibited and available for purchase at ABAD craftsmanship centers
