"ABAD" beneficiary: Ulya Khalilova | Region: Baku | Decorative-applied art
Ulya Khalilova, a young Baku resident and talented ABAD artisan, has been passionate about drawing and crafting handmade works since childhood. Driven to perfect her skills, she set a goal to pursue higher education in the arts, becoming a professional artisan. During her student years, the knowledge she gained allowed her to explore new creative directions in her craft.
In 2014, Ulya began painting unique designs on phone cases, a venture that quickly gained traction. Noticing the enthusiastic response to her work, she started accepting custom orders. Expanding her expertise in decorative-applied craftsmanship, she also began creating decorative vessels, bringing contemporary art techniques to life in her creations.
Ulya credits her talent and passion for art to her father, whose undeniable influence fueled her interest in the field. She says, “My father’s artistic legacy inspired me to pursue this path, and his support has been instrumental in my growth as an artisan.”
To expand her family business and establish a strong presence in the national souvenir market, Ulya joined ABAD. Her handcrafted works, which have been successfully showcased at various exhibitions, are now available for purchase at ABAD craftsmanship centers
