"ABAD" beneficiary: Tutu Huseynova | Region: Baku | Decorative-applied art
The Huseynov family, residents of Baku, is among the families supported by ABAD in the field of decorative-applied folk craftsmanship. Tutu Huseynova, a representative of the family, has been engaged in artistic embroidery for many years. Raised in a family of artists, Tutu creates a variety of handcrafted items, including ceremonial trays (xonça), traditional headwear (araxçın), and woven decorative boxes (mücrü).
Tutu Huseynova prioritizes təkəlduz, a traditional Azerbaijani embroidery technique, and frequently incorporates carpet patterns into her works, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Azerbaijan. Previously, she sold her creations based on individual orders. However, by joining ABAD to support her family’s business, she aims to further expand and develop her craft.
Tutu acknowledges that ABAD provides new opportunities for families engaged in decorative-applied folk arts. Her handcrafted works are now available for purchase at ABAD craftsmanship centers.
