The “ABAD” crafts center, which presents national handicrafts at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport's “Duty-Free” zone, started to operate on June 8, within the cooperation of “Azerbaijan Airlines” CJSC and “ABAD” PLE.
It should be noted that the “ABAD” exhibition-sale center operating in the Duty-Free zone of the International Airport is the second branch in number.
The first center was established in the territory of the State Historical-Architectural Reserve of "Icherisheher" and started operating on March 18.
Considering the high interest of tourists traveling to Azerbaijan in decorative-applied folk art samples presented by ABAD, there appeared to be a need to create a second art center at the next stage.
The center has been designed on a special design, the walls were adorned with “Shabaka”, and the lighting system was installed.
The center presents beautiful handicrafts, honey and jam products from different regions of Azerbaijan which enjoy great popularity among tourists.
All the presented products are marked by the logo of the artisan or family business and a special “ABAD” label is placed on products. This logotype and the "ABAD" label indicate the originality of the product.
At present, more than 4500 art samples of 1479 titles from 115 families and 10 types of agricultural products (jams, preserves, honey) of 5 families are available for sale at "ABAD" exhibition and sales centers operating in “Icherisheher” (Old Town) and Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
“ABAD” public legal entity established according to the Decree 1047 issued by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on 23 September 2016 to operate within the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
(The ABAD acronym stands for “Simplified Support to Family Businnesses)
The goal in the creation of “ABAD” public legal entity is to promote the involvement of citizens in the socio-economic development of Azerbaijan, to support small and medium entrepreneurship, to increase the employment level of the population and carry out socially oriented projects through forming competitive households. Priority directions of the legal entity ABAD are to support the families operating at decorative-applied folk art fields and agriculture.
